The origin of the candy is surprisingly obscure, but most accounts indicate Atlantic towns, New Jersey, in the eighties. One story goes that a tide swept into a sweet shop owned by Joseph Fralinger, turning his caramel gooey. Quickly rescue his goods, Fralinger supposedly called out for help, and a local employee responded, pulling the molten mixtu
